Located in a rural lakeside children's summer camp, this building evokes the
rustic imagery of the great early twentieth-century camps of the Northeast.
It serves not only as a dining hall, but also as the primary indoor gathering
space at the camp. Well-considered elements and details contribute to its
warm character and practicality. The three-story observation and bell tower
overlooks the lake while providing spectacular views of mountains beyond.
The wrap-around screen porch affords a mosquito-free outdoor dining/meeting
environment, and the huge fieldstone fireplace and "fan" trusses in the main
hall give the interior an inviting yet dramatic feeling. |
