The fateful U-turn

Memorial visitors will first encounter a row of forty trees - one for each individual. After the U-turn, when the passengers recognized the national significance of their situation, the wall transforms to glass, and reveals a soulful hall of heroes - forty tree like columns that hold up an alumnium wing/roof.
